It is very kind of you to come to the station to pick me up.

[ Maybe there is another way of writing 'it is very kind of you'. I don't know.)

I profoundly appreciate your gesture.

Je apprécie profondément votre geste .

Maybe I will come here again next year.

 I will let you know.

Je vous ferai savoir.

[ Maybe there is another way of writing 'I'll let you know'. I don't know.)

I have heard Normandy is a beautiful area to visit.

Why is there not an airport?

I am surprised.
Je suis surpris.

(The above is correct.)

Please correct my French sentences. They are fraught with errors.

A few suggestions...

It is very kind of you to come to the station to pick me up.

("kind of you " could be "gentil de votre part" )

I have heard Normandy is a beautiful area to visit.
(not sure if "dire" is necessary)

Why is there not an airport?
Pourquoi est -ce qu'il n'y a pas d'aéroport ? (perhaps "pas un " is also correct..)

Quite the same but it's more... nice.

What about " Peut-être reviendrai-j' ici l'année prochaine" ?

Good too but je instead of j'.

But pronounced as I wrote it?

Yeah the e doesnt pronounce.

And perhaps as a "middle way": "Je vais peut-être revenir..."

Thanks everybody for all the comments.

You are all writing the verb 'revenir'. It is interesting.

Because you don't want to write the verb 'rentrer' in this context.

Return home after visiting France has to be 'rentre à la maison'.

It does not have to be a trip to France; you go home after work and it should be 'je vais rentre à la maison'.

It seems the case is different when you are going to revisit an uncharted territory.

I would say it depends on your relation to the place you are talking about.

'Revenir' -> It's where you are now, and plan to come again, but it's not your comfort zone..

"Ce camping est formidable, nous reviendrons l'année prochaine", "je vais surement revenir l'année prochaine", "on revient l'année prochaine!"

The meaning of revenir = "venir encore" = to come again

(Same if you talk of someone else : "Ma chanteuse préférée revient à Paris avec son nouveau spectacle" (She has been here before, but it's not her confort zone /home))

"Retourner" -> You can be anywhere (most likely in your comfort zone) and you are talking about your favorite vacation spot. (or any distant place you know)

"J'aimerais retourner en France pour les vacances, " "Nous retournons au même camping chaque année" "j'aimerais y retourner"

Retourner = to go again.

"Rentrer" is only used to talk about your home/confort zone.

If you say "Je suis rentré en France" I know that France is your home country.

We also use it to say that everything is back to normal -> Tout est rentré dans l'ordre

and for the kids going back to school in september, it's called "la rentrée" "les enfants sont rentrés à l'école" (only for the first day of school)

For : I profoundly appreciate your gesture. I prefer:

"J'apprécie beaucoup votre geste". or "J'appécie énormément votre geste."

In French we rarely  use "depth" to talk about feelings outside a romantic context, we usually prefer to use "quantity" ...

I'm no teacher only a native speaker so I hope this helps :)
