Fouiller/chercher les hommes est commun aux aéroports.

Are my French sentences fine?
Do you use the verb 'fouiller' in French?

In English it is frisking.

Hello Crack1,

Ils fouilleront, vous et vos bagages, à l'aéroport => yep this is correct.

However, "ils fouilleront vous" sounds weird, "vous" can't really be used as an object.
We'd rather say:

Ils vous fouilleront, ainsi que vos bagages

or (but it's probably a specific case, not a general rule), "vous" can indeed be placed after the verb as an object, if it's a repetition:

Ils vous fouilleront, vous et vos bagages

(a bit similar to "I'm going to kill you. You and your wife" or even "My name is Bond, James Bond"!)

Yes "fouiller" is the right verb. "chercher" is rather "to seek".
Thanks Frank

ils fouilleront vous ----> This is rubbish in French.

I am stupid to write it.
This is one of the basic rules in French; the verb comes after the object.

In English the correct verb is frisk. However, nothing wrong to use the verb search.

At an airport or some other place a security people or police could frisk you.
He told me the truth.

Il m'a dit la vérité.

Il dit m'a la vérité. Wrong
I didn't know that "to search" could also mean "to frisk". Thanks for pointing this out, Crack1.

But in French, "chercher" only means "to look for", "to seek".
Hi this is interesting, as I would use "to frisk" as an action by police.

The cop frisked the unruly protester.

During his arrest, the suspect was frisked by the policeman to see if he was carrying concealed weapons or contraband.

I have never been "body searched" at the airport, however, my luggage has been searched many times.
At an airport or some other place a security people or police could frisk you.
It would be better to say:
At an airport or at some other place where security is a concern, such as an outdoor political rally; security personnel or police could frisk you.
Pam
Of course Pamela they frisk you only at places where security is a concern.

I go to shopping center to buy groceries. There are security guards but they don't frisk people. They keep a good watch on shoplifters.
