"avis" v. "opinion"

I've never think about difference between theses two words before. the difference is very little.

I think "opinion" is stronger than "avis".

I use "opinion" to speak about what someone thinks about an important or a general subjet. I use "avis" to speak about what someone thinks about a question or in a discussion.

Une opinion politique.

Une opinion religieuse.

Je suis de ton avis, on ne devrait pas sortir avec les cheveux mouillés.
