Translating from French to English

The inspector asks for the tickets.

The passangers had their tickets stamped.

The passengers stamped their tickets.

3. Je lis mon livre.

I read my book.

4. J'admire les illustrations.

I admire the illustrations.

5. Mon voisin regarde le journal.

My neighbour looks at the newspaper.

6. Il parle a sa femme.

He speaks to his wife.

In 2, I prefer The passengers had validated their tickets. Validation would be by inserting the ticket into a machine that date-stamps or clips it. It's a protection against fraudulent re-use.
