Here is a proposition of a translation based on your own:

Elle s'était également intéressée au monde de l'art, ce qui l'avait conduit à une exposition d'empreintes japonaises. Ses centres d'intérêts et son travail étaient inhabituels pour une femme de cette époque.

Can you please show how you came up with 'ce qui l'avait'? conduit? ....what tense did you use?

This tense is called in French "Plus-que -parfait". I used it because the verb of the main part of the sentence (était) is in imparfait (actually it would work with any past tense)

You write the auxiliary in imparfait and the past participle of the verb (conduire here)
