Being curious, she decided to pick up the box up, exclaiming, “Who would leave such a beautiful present on the ground!” However, to her surprise, there was a shiny pink card on the box addressed to “Adele”. “What?” She exclaimed, “this present is for me!”, and excitedly, she ripped open the box.

Hi. Here is my correction :

Dini: Notice that lauris has used the past historic tense to re-compose this tale...

elle remarqua

elle décida

"Quoi?" s'écria-t-elle

This is quite correct for a written story. You won't hear it in conversation, however.

Thanks Stu to precise that.

Indeed, here, I considered it as a story told to someone, so I used this tense.

But in the common language, the one you used (elle a décidé) is most used.

Anyway, beware not to switch from on tense to another in the text. This is one of the main issue even for the natives, but it is very important

Merci beaucoup!!

Yes, this is supposed to be for a children's story (a proj. for school). I added more to it:

Surprisingly, there were six cupcakes with bright colored candles as well as six matchsticks in the box. And scribbled on to the side of the box, in tiny blue print, were the words, “Light a candle, make a wish, and watch it come true. But be careful for what you wish for!” Upon reading this, Adele began to laugh. “This is ridiculous!” she exclaimed, but she picked up a cupcake, lit the candle, and wished that she went to high school instead of middle school.

 Traduction:

Could you please look over this as well? Thank you!

Ah quelle surprise!

My part at the end:  Suddenly, she felt that she had grown a lot and that her clothes did nor fit her anymore.

Good luck!

Merci beaucoup Legrand!
