Hi Charlotte.

Habilitation Universitaire = University Authorisation.

I found this explanation in French:
L'habilitation est la plus haute qualification universaire qu'une personne puisse recevoir
dans certain pays européens. Faisant suite à un doctorat.

Which I translate to mean:
The Habilitation (Authorisation) is the highest qualification that anyone can receive in
certain European countries (ie. European universities). It follows on from a doctorate.

It confers, to the holder, the authority to supervise PhD. students, and qualifies them to
join the corps of university professors.

There appears to be no equivalent position within the English university system; the
highest qualification being a PhD.

Hope this helps.
