I'm new here and just beginning to learn French so please go easy on me!
As part of my effort to learn, I'm listening to RFI's Journal en français facile and setting myself the task of translating a few sentences a day. I'm a bit stuck on this sentence from today's edition:
Les secours travaillent sans relâche pour aider des dizaines de milliers d'Haïtiens livrés à eux-mêmes dans la rue.
I get the gist of it but I think the sentence is quite idiomatic in two places.
Does the first bit: "Les secours travaillent sans relâche ..." translate to: Rescuers are working non-stop?
I kind of get the gist of the last part: "... livrés à eux-mêmes dans la rue.", I think it means "have been made homeless". Is that right? What is the literal translation and what tenses are going on etc?
