Quelqu'un de ses proches l'a accueillie

One of his neighbours ...
Could you please translate into English?

I don't know how to translate the given French sentence.
It has to do with some sort of welcome by some neighbour.

I know 'proche' means neighbour or close.

Hello Crack,

A "proche" is a relative.
Thanks Frank
Still I have difficulty in translating into English.

He was welcomed by one of his relatives.
Have I done a clean job?

Ils sont proches parents.
They are closely related. [ I am not sure about my English translation.]
Hello Crack,

"He was welcomed by one of his relatives."
Yes, exactly.

Ils sont proches parents.
Almost: ils sont parents proches.
