Translation Help Please

Mes Parents

Les parents de mon père ont déménagé d’Ontario dans le Saskatchewan en mille neuf cent trois, et mon père y est né en mille neuf cent douze, le cinquième de neuf enfants. Comme ses parents et grands-parents, il était un fermier. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, mon père essaye joindre l’armée, mais il n'a réussi pas parce que de son vue a été mauvais. Selon papa, finalement il a soudoyé le médecin avec une bouteille de whisky et il est devenu un soldat.

Le même an mon père était né, les parents de ma mère ont émigré de Finlande pour vivre sur une ferme dans le Saskatchewan. Ma mère était née en mille neuf cent vingt. Elle a appris l'anglais quand elle a commencé l'école--le professeur dessinerait une image d'un animal et la dit qu'il a été appelé en l’anglais. Apparemment il était un vraiment mauvais artiste et elle ne pourrait pas dire souvent s'il avait dessiné un chat ou une vache. Néanmoins, il doit a l'enseigné bien, comme elle a parlé l’anglais coulant.

My Parents

My father’s parents moved from Ontario to Saskatchewan in 1903, and my father was born in 1912, the fifth of nine children. Like his parents and grand-parents, he was a farmer. During World War II, my father tried to enlist in the army, but was unsuccessful because of his poor eyesight. According to Dad, he finally bribed the medic with a bottle of whiskey and got in.

The same year my father was born, my mother’s parents came from Finland and settled on a farm in Saskatchewan. My mother was born in 1920. She learned English when she started school—the teacher would draw a picture of an animal and tell her what it was called in English. Apparently he was a really bad artist and she often couldn’t tell whether he had drawn a cat or a cow. Still, he must have taught her well, as she spoke fluent English.

1) What is the word for great-grandparents?
2) In the first line I wanted to say my father's parents 'settled' in Ontario (They were homesteaders.) Is there an equivalent expression in French?
