What will be the typical translation of following sentence;
Très heureux de faire votre connaissance

The usual expression is "pleased to meet you".

Some commentators note that "pleased to meet you" is actually more common in some English-speaking countries than très heureux... is in France (at least). That is, French people have more of a tendency to just say bonjour! when meeting for the first time.

" de faire votre connaissance" confuses me. In fact I don't have a clear picture on the construction of this phrase.

"très heureux de" = "pleased to"
"faire connaissance avec quelqu'un" = "rencontrer quelqu'un" = "to meet somebody"
==> "très heureux de faire connaissance avec vous" = "très heureux de faire votre connaissance" = "pleased to meet you" (="très heureux de vous rencontrer")
