Old email
The following is an old email message I received when I was studying French with Eva. She is not a native French. However, her profession is to teach English and German.
This was some 5 years old email.
My question is on grammatical aspects of it. Did she write correctly?

Je suis desolé de mon absence le mercredi dernier. Maintenant je me sens
beaucoup mieux.
Mercredi le 13 décembre on aura le dernier test. On se voit à 18.00 dans
la salle Rotund.

--> "Mercredi 13 décembre, ...." OR "Mercredi, le 13 décembre, ...." BUT NOT "Mercredi le 13 décembre, ...." (the comma is very important, as you can see)

Marc -- presumably in your variety of French you'd also say "Le mercredi 13 décembre"?

You should rather say désolé pour mon absence de mercredi. Maintenant, je me sens beaucoup mieux.

She wrote the word 'test'. It seems the most appropriate French word is 'evaluation'.
In English, I would write ' the final examination/test will be held on 13th December'.

@Neil: Indeed, "Le mercredi 13 décembre" is fine as well, thanks for pointing that out.
@Crack1: in the sentence "Mercredi 13 décembre, on aura le dernier test", the word "on" is indispensable, since it is the subject of the verb "aura". However, in the sentence "Mercredi 13 décembre aura lieu le dernier test" the subject is "le dernier test", and the verb is "aura lieu" ("will be held").
The word "test" is perfectly correct, so is "évaluation". Or also "examen". Note: instead of "dernier" one would rather use "final" for a test.
Mercredi 13 décembre aura lieu le test final / l'évaluation finale / l'examen final.

I'm sorry to say this but in French it is frequently advised no to use the word "on " although it is very handy to translate the passive voice. If you want ot keep the "on" in that case you ought to write: Mercredi, on aura notre dernier contrôle. Sorry if I sound a little bit fussy, here.
