Effroyable – appalling, terrible, dreadful

affreux – dreadful, awful

ecourant – sickening, sickly, disgusting

yes.

But difficult to explain..... because all theses words aare often used in wrong terms.

So here are the first meanings :

écoeurant = when there are nasty smells, or pictures which make feel like vomiting. It's used for something shocking too.

affreux = the most general. Is used for a crime, for the weather, for a dress, ...

épouvantable : is used for huge disasters.

Effroyable = for something that scares people. huge scares. for huge disaster too.
