1) when would u use compte-rendu instead of rapport ?

2) are both of these common? 

en fin de compte – at the end of the day

au bout du compte – in the final analysis

3) are the below examples the most common way to express these?  for the 1st one, they wouldn't just use "compter"?

faire le compte de – to count up

le compte – count, number, bank account

a ce compte-la – in that case

rendre compte de qch – to give an account of qch

tenir compte de – to take into account
