It can mean

-"new" if it's used as an adjective for a feminine noun

 -  a short story if it's used as a noun

I've forgotten to say that "des nouvelles" (always in plural) means "some news".

Considering the context of your other questions it's the meaning you're looking for.

If some one responds: est en vie divorce et se rejouie encore de la vie, what does that mean?

The first part of this sentence doesn't mean anything. May be with the whole sentence or with the ponctuation it would be easier to understand it.

Here is a translation of each part :

- est en vie : is alive

- divorce : divorce

et se réjouie encore de la vie : and is delighted the life again

What does " bon qu'est ce quete te devenue" mean

The right sentence is "Bon...Qu'est-ce que tu deviens?".

The translation is "So...What's up with you?"

If someone says to you" Tout doucement ca va. Et toi?" What are they asking?

They're asking :" how do you do?"

It means "It's going slowly, and you"
