Relation of verb and noun

is the verb complement the noun.
e.g. sont-il dans la cour? in this example putting il or elle is according to cour or something else?

What's the french for "Are you" in plural?

Vous-etes is a translation for sigular person but if we want to say"are you John's friends?" how would we say it and hello to everyone because i am a new user.

HELP

Some guy at work keeps telling me "Seigh le vi" when I refuse his advances. What does that mean? It might be spelled differently like "sa la vi" But I would think it is common and I cannot figure out what he is saying even with a french-english translation dictionary. I think because I am spelling is wrong. Can anyone help me?
