The noun is generally confiance.

The equivalent of "trust" as a verb is usually to use various expressions with confiance. You can say either avoir confiance en (literally "have trust/faith in...") or faire confiance à/mettre sa confiance en ("to put one's faith in...", "to rely on..."). Especially when talking about "trusting" figures, the contents of a document etc, you can also use the verb se fier à, which is essentially equivalent to the last couple of expressions.
