What is this translated into English?

Pendant

In english it means a dangling piece, but I don't know what it means in French. (false conjugate) it's supposed to be some type of expression.

In French, it *can* mean "hanging", "dangling".

But most commonly, pendant means during. For example, pendant le voyage = during the journey.
I think what you said last is right. It fits in with the text around it. Thank You!!
