Hi Firoz,

It means how beautiful the sand was.
Merci.
the sand was beautiful
Noppe, notice the leading "Que" that means how + adjective :)
Just a small tip when you're translating "que..." -- using how + adj is a little literary/old-fashioned. It's more natural to say e.g. the sand was so/really lovely!, the sand was really nice!, it was really nice sand! etc.
Thanks for the tip, Neil.

Incidentally, this is also the case in French. Que/Comme + adj is definitely literary/old-fashioned.

It would be way more natural to say "Le sable était si beau", "Le sable était super beau", etc.
