Plural of grape varieties

From the label of a bottle of wine:  "Dans la pure tradition des grands Cabernets Franc".  I was asked by a friend why it wasn't "Cabernets Francs".  I said that "franc" was not perceived as an adjective, in this context.  But I have been wondering.  Can anyone comment?
