Discuss and learn French.

My god-daughter is traveling to France this next summer and all she wants for Christmas is cash to help fund her trip. I want to get a piggy bank that says, "Money for France" in French, but don't know any French. Can someone help me? I would really appreciate it.

Hi Heidi,

You could write Cagnotte pour la France.

or, more alliteratively, "Fric pour La France"

Good lord, no.

"Fric" is slang. And slang, used in the wrong context, would sound ridiculous. And on a piggy bank, it would be, without even being funny.

In addition, "fric" is a word in decline. People over 40 still use it a lot, but younger generations don't. Slang is something that keeps changing all the time and using tacky slang terms is the best way to sound like an older person.

Understanding slang is very important, but using it right can be tricky.
