Hi,

I'm having trouble getting my head around the usage of "faire le même constat". I understand that it has something to do with being the "same..." thing, comment or object... but the contexts within which I've seen it appear is varied, general and confusing for me. I've seen it function as a verb, a description of something (with changes to the original stem of course) and a noun (with required changes)... So my question is, what is the approximate english translation of it? And what would I be able to use it for?

Thanks in advance!

You can use this expression where you might say in English "I noticed that too" or "I saw the same thing." The construction in that case would be J'ai fait le même constat.

what if i wanted to say:
".... they both say the same thing?"

or rather, they both portray the same thing? In the sense that two objects represent another object in tbe same manner?

Would it be:

Ils font le même constant tous les deux?"

since its essentially the two objects seeing the same thing?

That sounds ok as long as "they" refers to people. I doubt if it would be right for non-personal things (two magazines, for example) but I'll defer to the native French.

Thanks stu!

In this case....'they' refers to a film and an article portraying the same thing... I guess I cannot use it then
