The subjunctive is essentially the equivalent of English constructions like "him going to Paris", "(for) them to help me", "the TV breaking down" etc, where you don't actually explicitly state that something happened/will happen, but you create a kind of "snapshot" of the situation.

Have a look at the page on What is the subjunctive?, plus following pages.
thnks for the page.
Do any of u know an online radio website where i can listen to french news etc. so that i can familiarize myself with the language? thnks for ur help in advance.
Hi Angelique,

You can tune in to all Radio France stations: http://www.radiofrance.fr/

There's a lot of other radios that can be listened to, but they are mostly music radio stations.

ChanteFrance also has an online stream. There's nothing but music, but if you want to listen to old French classics, you can tune in: http://www.chantefrance.com/
And if you want to listen to French as spoken by teenagers, you can also listen to Skyrock (disclaimer: I'm working for this FM radio) : http://www.skyrock.fm/ - in order to listen to the stream, click the red left part ("Écoute Skyrock"). I recommend you listen between 6h and 9h AM and 9h-midnight PM, which is a program where listeners call and chit chat with presenters.
