French Cinema

Hi - I'm keen to find a UK (even better London based) source of French films, still in French (!) and with French sub-titles, preferably optional.
I love French Cinema, but my normal source of French Cinema is VirginMedia - and they've stopped transmitting subtitles.

Or, put in a different way, do French Cinema DVDs normally have French Subtitles?
Any suggestions SVP?

Hi Howard,

The french Lycée in south kensington London have a cinema(can't remember if in the lycee or next to it but anyone can go). Also HMV have Jean de florette and Manon des sources DVD with french/english subtitles for a very reasonable price.

French Amazon were announcing an offer a couple of days ago on 5 DVDs for 25 Euros or something. Might be worth checking out.

Thank you Neil - I've just ordered them following your advice. I also found play.com offering La Haine, for example. I've watched that several times - I love the verlans!
Can I say how much I admire this forum? I've read so many threads in the few days I"ve been a member.

Howard vous etes un genie, je viens de jeter un coup d'oeil sur play.com MARVELOUS, et moi qui pensez que l'offre de hmv etait bien! ( huit livres pour les deux dvd jean et manon). Cela fait deux mois si ce n'est plus que j 'evite la tentation de les achete. Vous venez de me faire me faire economiser trois livres. Un site internet que vous pourriez utiliser pour les chaines francaise est,freeetv.com malheuresement il n'ya pas de sous-titre. Peut etre que si vous savez vous debrouillez dans le domaine de l'informatique vous pourriez avoir les sous-titres.
