French authors/books for beginners!

Hi guys.

I have more or less just finished a French course in France and now that I am back home in Sweden I want to try to keep my French up, and reading is of course a great way. I know a lot of people would benefit from this, not just me!

So, what authors and books should one read to improve one's French at beginner-intermediate level?

I know of the facile-à-lire CLE series, and some say l'Étranger is easy to read. I have just finished Le Petit Prince, and that was just the sort of level for me to understand.
