un entonnoir dont le pavillon est echancre sur un point

This has got me stumped.

 A funnel whose neck narrows into a point...

A funnel whose cavity narrows to a point...

Thoughts?

Hello

un entonnoir = a funnel

le pavillon = the cavity, the big hole.

échancré = cut, open, indented

http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=A0PDoQ1zG3pRj0oAEcK...

if you can see this picture, this dress is "échancrée" in front.

échancrée = like a     V

So,

...a funnel whose V-shaped cavity ends in a tip...

Very helpful, thank you so much.

M.
