Does anybody know where to look for medieval french dictionaries?    It would be nice to be able to check words which can sometimes only be guessed at;  for instance in french chansons.

I would suggest two routes:

 - There are a few publications, including one from Larousse, entitled things like "Dictionnaire de l'ancien français". Depending on what exactly you mean by "medieval", there is also the analogous "Dictionnaire du moyen français" which covers usage from the early 14th century onwards. (There's some overlap in any case, of course, it's not like people suddenly got to the end of the 1300s and thought "oh, let's suddenly radically alter our word usage because people in the 20th century are going to call this period 'middle French...)

- You could also consider getting editions of a couple of the major Old French works such as the Chanson de Roland which have accompanying glossaries-- these are the sources of evidence for word use attested to in Old French dictionaries in any case.

Thanks.   I have now managed to find on-line dictionaries via  'lexilogos'
