Hello Linda,

"Dernier cri" has a totally different meaning. It means "bleeding edge", ie. brand-new, top-notch technology.

Well, although the "bleeding edge" meaning is probably the most common one, "dernier cri" can also sometimes mean the last ditch effort.

"LE dernier cri" means bleeding edge.

"UN dernier cri" means a last ditch effort.
