A French friend of mine recently ended her e-mail to me saying: "J'espère que toi tu tiens aussi le coup." What exactly does this expression mean?

I actually didn't really know how to translate this in English, so I asked my dear friend Google ;-)

Here are several meanings, I guess you will be able to pick the best one up (but I think the first ones are those that better fit in your context, right?)
tenir le coup {v} to stand the strain {v}
tenir le coup {v} to keep going {v}
tenir le coup {v} to hung on {v}
tenir le coup {v} to hold out {v}
tenir le coup {v} to last out {v}
tenir le coup {v} to stick it out {v}

I think I also heard once "How do you keep it all together?", meaning "Comment fais-tu pour tenir le coup ?"

I hope it helps. Otherwise, just wait for the answer of someone who is really fluent in English... not like me :-)
Thanks, Marc, I think "hang in there" is closest in meaning . . .
