Shortening words for speaking purposes
I am studying French with Pimsleurs. There is a section where it sounds like the person is saying Je vrai t'inviter aller au cinema avec moi. Do people shorten voudrais to vrai sometimes when speaking?

No, that's not done. Could it be vais? (I'm going to invite to go to the cinema with me).

Well, I just double checked the English translation they give for that sentence because vais or even veux would make more sense than vrai. He definitely says, "I would like to invite you to go to the movies with me." I guess he's just speaking so fast that the voudrais got slurred together. Thanks Stu.

As in all languages, French has a number of sound processes that occur as part of speaking rapidly or naturally as opposed to what you might call "careful" speech.
However, however fast the speech, I think the words voudrais and vrai will generally be distinguishable, so I would be reluctant to say that voudrais is shortened to vrai per se.
