Are 'ronces en acier, electrisees' the same as barbed wire? Or is it more like electric wire? I'm not even sure if barbed wire can be electrified... The same paragraph later refers to barbed wire (des barbeles), so I am trying to avoid repeating the phrase...

Thanks, Clare

'Ronces en acier' might be a metaphor for barbed wires. It is not very often used in french, we much say 'barbelés' for barbed wire ou 'cloture electric' for electric wire

Thanks very much for all your answers. All very useful! Merci bien!
