Am translating a poem by Marguerite Yourcenar which refers to le grand Maure (in connection with Russia??) - I know what a Maure is but anyone know who le grand Maure was??? Thanks! Clare

It seems that le grand Maure was a Petrouchka's opponent. I saw that here
