In working on an old tombstone, I find inscribed: [Name] etce [Name]. The context is of a father and mother of a dead child. The context clearly is/should be: "[mother] and [father]" I have not been able to find "etce" in any French dictionary. The stone is old, the carving a bit obscured. It is possible that what is carved is "et ed" but I don't think so. I believe "etce" is correct.

The date of the inscription is 1833, the people involved are descended from Quebecois immigrants. Is anyone familiar with this "etce" usage. Thanks for any help.
