Hi George.

Thank you very much. It was very helpful for me to read and write in English.

When you say something like "maybe "start a thread/topic" rather than "open a subject"", I think "oh yes of course."

But often, I don't remember, I have the french sentence in my head and I make the main mistake : I look in the dictionary.

But the more I write, the less I look in a dictionary and the more I remember syntax.

In french we have a lot of way to say that :

- ouvrir un sujet / topic (the word "topic" is used in France) that i translated word for word (this expression too) ;-)

- démarrer un sujet

I didn't realize you were trying to improve your English Chantal.

In that case you should say "make mistakes" .Otherwise all good except perhaps you might have said "write some sentences" instead of "write sentences" (just a little more natural)

Oh and also ,maybe "start a thread/topic" rather than "open a subject" (did you have "entamer " in your head perhaps?)

removed bad formatting above from trying to post…

Hello Jodie.

I have the same problem... but in english. And I have to speak english in my job.

And I listen to a lot of movies and series in english with subtitles.

Try to write sentences. I think you can open a subjet just to make sentences and discuss. And there will be someone to answer and correct your sentences.
