i see "jusqu'en used before dates or years.  but it's not used for all measurements of time cuz there's "jusqu'a present" and "jusqu'a la fin du jour" (the latter in a jacques brel song).  the dictionary has "jusqu'en fin de" but i guess it doesn't apply to time.  clarification please as to when i use which.  Tx

it's right.

Jusqu'en 1985 : only with a month (and/or/without) year. But not with a date with the day.

Jusqu'au 15 avril 1985 : date with the day.

Jusqu'à 10h  : with an hour.

With "fin" (or début) :

Jusqu'en fin de journée / jusqu'à la fin de la journée : both are right and used and means the same thing. It's right for month and years. But not for a year called with numbers.

Jusqu'en fin de mois / jusqu'à la fin du mois.

Jusqu'en fin d'année / jusqu'à la fin de l'année.

Jusqu'à fin 1985

Jusqu'au dernier lundi du mois.

Jusqu'à la fin des temps.
